Skokie’s first nine holes date to 1897, with George Leslie working in consultation with Herbert Tweedie. Expansion and redesign followed as the institution moved from an early nine-hole club toward national championship golf.1

Gene Sarazen won the 1922 U.S. Open here. Three decades later, Betsy Rawls won the 1952 Women’s Western, adding a leading women’s competition to the Club’s tournament history.1
