South Course
Firestone’s South Course combines narrow fairways, deep bunkers and difficult approaches. Its long par-five sixteenth acquired the “Monster” nickname after Arnold Palmer’s triple bogey during the 1960 PGA Championship, according to the Club’s account.1

The South Course’s demanding finish
The eighteenth produced a very different memory in 2000. In fading light, Tiger Woods struck an eight-iron approach to within two feet as he completed an eleven-stroke victory in the WGC-NEC Invitational. The famous finish joined the course’s record of punishing holes with an example of unusually precise execution.1
