Onwentsia Club

Onwentsia’s present property replaced the cramped early courses on neighboring estates. The Club hired Robert Foulis as golf professional as it established its permanent home in 1895.¹

National championships soon followed: the U.S. Amateur in 1899 and the U.S. Open in 1906. These events belonged to the permanent Club, rather than the earlier lawn course.¹
