Skokie Country Club

Tom Bendelow expanded Skokie to eighteen holes in 1904. Donald Ross worked on the course in 1914, before Langford and Moreau’s 1938 intervention gave the layout another architectural layer.¹

The first hole illustrates its demanding approach play: a left dogleg leads toward a two-tier green that falls away behind. The tee shot and approach therefore require different judgments about position and the consequences of carrying too far.¹
