Chicago Golf Club
The present Chicago Golf course belongs to a later architectural chapter than the Club’s pioneering Belmont layout. Members sought substantial change after the 1912 U.S. Amateur, and Macdonald recommended Seth Raynor to produce a modern course informed by National Golf Links of America.1

A modern course within an early American Club
World War I delayed the project. Construction began in 1921 and the new course opened in June 1923. The distinction matters: the Club’s earliest national championships preceded the Raynor course played today.1
