A. W. Tillinghast’s twenty-seven Ridgewood holes opened on May 30, 1929. Three returning nines radiate from the clubhouse, making the central building the common beginning and end of several possible rounds.1

A championship combination from three nines
The Championship Course combines selected holes from those nines rather than representing a fourth independent layout. Its identity therefore rests on a tournament routing through the larger Tillinghast property, which has also received work by Gil Hanse.1
