Coore & Crenshaw laid out Friar’s Head across 350 acres of former farmland and high sand dunes beside Long Island Sound. Those contrasting landscapes form the setting for a course whose fifteenth hole heads toward the water.¹

For the 2023 Met Amateur, the planned test combined 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying with a sixteen-player match-play bracket. The format asked players to negotiate the same ground first against the field, then against individual opponents.¹
