Emmet’s Pelham course crossed wooded, rolling ground. It hosted the 1923 PGA Championship, where Gene Sarazen defeated Walter Hagen in a final that continued to the thirty-eighth hole.1

Emmet’s woodland course and a highway interruption
Construction of the New England Thruway forced a redesign in the late 1950s. Further changes followed, including a renovation begun in August 2019 and completed in June 2020, showing how infrastructure and later course work altered the original setting.1
