Open

The Country Club’s Open Course is a championship composite drawn from its existing golf holes. For the 2022 U.S. Open, the USGA combined the Main Course with portions of Primrose and set the course at par seventy.³

A championship course assembled

The Club’s account of that championship highlights the return of the Main Course’s short twelfth hole, described as the Redan, to U.S. Open play for the first time since 1913. The tournament routing changed which parts of familiar ground competitors encountered.¹

Earlier U.S. Opens also ended in playoffs: Julius Boros defeated Jacky Cupit and Arnold Palmer in 1963, and Curtis Strange defeated Nick Faldo in 1988. Those results belong to their respective championship editions, each with its own routing and setup.²
