Primrose
William Flynn designed the Primrose nine in 1927, expanding The Country Club’s golfing ground beyond the original eighteen holes. Primrose belongs to the same property, with an identity of its own and a role in the composite Open Course.2

The third nine
For the 2022 U.S. Open, the championship routing incorporated portions of Primrose alongside holes from Clyde and Squirrel. The USGA describes the contribution as three and a half holes, reflecting how the championship course combines parts of the existing routing.2
In 2009, Gil Hanse was asked to prepare a restoration plan covering all twenty-seven holes. That scope placed Primrose within the same architectural study as the Main Course, while preserving the distinction between a nine-hole course and the tournament layout assembled across the property.1
