Ganson Depew laid out the course, with Walter Travis later contributing suggestions before the 1912 U.S. Open. Donald Ross redesigned it in 1917 and 1918, leaving a further architectural layer.1

Grover Cleveland Golf Course design and history
The property changed again in 1947 when the city transferred land for a veterans hospital. Three holes and part of a fourth were lost, requiring replacement holes. Erie County identifies nine surviving 1912 Open holes and highlights the seventeenth’s Redan-style green.1
