Des Moines Golf And Country Club
Des Moines Golf and Country Club began with a meeting in a sporting-goods store on September 28, 1897. Its subsequent history included several moves, a clubhouse fire in 1946 and rebuilding three years later.1

Moving west to make room for golf
In 1958, members learned that an interstate highway was planned through the middle of their course. The Club moved west and commissioned Pete Dye to design thirty-six holes, creating the foundation of its present golf complex.1
