Muirfield Village Golf Club
Jack Nicklaus’s plans for an Ohio golf home carried a personal motive. In a later PGA Tour interview, he recalled two friends killed while travelling to the 1966 Masters and his growing desire to build something lasting at home.1

Muirfield Village Golf Club history
Muirfield Village opened in 1974, and the Memorial Tournament began in 1976 with Roger Maltbie’s victory. Nicklaus won his own tournament the following year.1
