Monterey Peninsula Country Club
Monterey Peninsula Country Club opened in July 1926 as part of Samuel Finley Brown Morse’s development of the peninsula. Golf joined tennis, riding and coastal recreation in a larger effort to attract residents and visitors.1

Clarence Tantau designed the Spanish-style clubhouse. Nearby, a former quarry became a small swimming lake with a sandy bottom and beach, giving the Club an inland complement to its stretch of ocean shore.1
