Bethpage Black
Bethpage Black belongs to a five-course public golf complex rather than a private country club. New York State Parks places the opening of its Tillinghast-designed Blue, Red and Black courses in 1935–36, between the earlier Green course and Alfred Tull’s Yellow course of 1958.1

A public course on golf’s largest stage
The Black course hosted the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2009, followed by the 2019 PGA Championship and the 2025 Ryder Cup. Its championship history is therefore also a history of major competitions played on a course that remains part of a state park.1
