Ridgewood Country Club
Ridgewood’s origins reach back to two holes William Rosencrantz made on his lawn at The Hermitage in 1890. The institution eventually moved to Paramus, opening its present clubhouse in May 1929.1

A name that survived the move
The Club retained a Ridgewood post-office address after the move. Only in 1990, during preparations for U.S. Senior Open tents, did Paramus require it to identify its location by the borough’s name, resolving a long-running geographic ambiguity.1
