Prairie Dunes Country Club
Prairie Dunes began with the Carey family’s interest in golf and the rolling land around Hutchinson, Kansas. In 1935, they commissioned Perry Maxwell to design a course. The first nine holes opened on September 13, 1937.1

A Kansas landscape, two generations of Maxwell
The Club became a recurring stage for women’s championship golf. Juli Inkster won the U.S. Women’s Amateur here in 1980 and returned to win the U.S. Women’s Open in 2002. Prairie Dunes also hosted the 1986 Curtis Cup.1
