Pasatiempo Golf Club
Marion Hollins brought Pasatiempo into being on the hills above Santa Cruz. The 1921 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion had already helped develop Cypress Point when she announced a new golf and sporting estate in January 1928. She commissioned Alister MacKenzie to design its course.1

Marion Hollins’s Santa Cruz ambition
The opening on September 8, 1929 brought Hollins together with Bobby Jones, Glenna Collett and Cyril Tolley in the first foursome. MacKenzie made his home beside the sixth fairway and lived there until his death in 1934.1
Decades later, Club historian Robert Beck uncovered old photographs that showed architectural details lost over time. Those images helped launch a restoration programme, with Tom Doak hired in 1996 and Jim Urbina working as his lead associate.2
