Atlanta Athletic Club
Atlanta Athletic Club began in 1898 with a life divided between downtown Atlanta and East Lake. As members moved north, the Club followed, consolidating at its Johns Creek property in the late 1960s.1

Atlanta Athletic Club history
Its downtown building had opened in 1926 with athletic rooms and guest accommodation. Members later voted to sell it, and the building was imploded in 1973. At the new home, Bobby Jones’s preserved letter asking the USGA to bring his favorite tournament to the Club records the personal appeal behind the 1976 U.S. Open.1
