Bethpage State Park
In the early 1930s, the Bethpage Park Authority bought Lenox Hills Country Club and neighboring properties. The acquisition became the basis of a public park with an unusually large concentration of golf courses.1

Public golf grows from Lenox Hills
Demand continued to expand. The Yellow Course opened in 1958, bringing the complex to five eighteen-hole courses, each identified by a color.1
