Charles Schwab and George Roberts partnered to create Nanea on the slopes of Mount Hualalai. The private course opened in 2003 near Kailua-Kona, establishing a new golfing institution on Hawaii’s Big Island.1

A private Hawaiian club opens a collegiate stage
Beginning in 2013, Nanea hosted the collegiate event first known as the Pac-12 Preview. The competition later became the Nanea Invitational, maintaining a meeting place for university teams even after the conference’s membership changed.1
