Royal Portrush Golf Club
Royal Portrush began as the County Golf Club in May 1888. The Belfast and Northern Counties Railway supported its formation, linking golf with the town’s growing visitor trade.1

Royal Portrush Golf Club history
A larger clubhouse opened in 1892, connected by telephone to the railway station and hotel. Royal patronage changed the Club’s name first to Royal County and then, in 1895, to Royal Portrush.1
