Brae Burn Country Club
Brae Burn began as a nine-hole club in 1897. Its own history credits Mrs. George Frost with suggesting a Scottish name for a place of slopes and a brook. The emblem also evolved early: a thistle adopted at the founding gave way to a four-leaf clover in 1900.1

A Scottish name in West Newton
Women’s championship golf forms a substantial part of the Club’s history. Harriot Curtis won the U.S. Women’s Amateur here in 1906; Beth Daniel secured the 1975 title with a fifteen-foot birdie putt on the sixteenth. Silvia Cavalleri won the championship when it returned in the Club’s centennial year, 1997.1
