Siwanoy incorporated as Siwanoy Country Club of Mount Vernon on May 20, 1901. Its founders leased the Glover estate, converted the mansion into a clubhouse and prepared nine holes for play that autumn.1

Siwanoy Country Club history
The Club’s own history distinguishes those documented beginnings from a founding legend about golfers frustrated by their trolley journey home. A 1926 anniversary address preserved the story, illustrating how institutional memory grew alongside the legal record.1
