Firestone Country Club
Harvey Firestone commissioned a golf retreat for company employees in 1929. Bert Way designed the original course, and Firestone struck the opening tee shot. A corporate recreation project became the foundation of the Club’s later tournament identity.1

An employee retreat becomes a tournament venue
The Rubber City Open brought PGA Tour golf in 1954. After fire destroyed the original clubhouse, the Club began constructing the 125-foot water tower that became its landmark. Robert Trent Jones Sr.’s 1960 redesign then prepared the South Course for the PGA Championship.1
